Inspecting Tablets

I have a new toy - a tablet.

And I spent quite a bit of time researching which one was the best.

All reviews pointed to the Apple iPad, and I must say it was tempting.

But the price was not.

I have an iPhone with 16gb memory, and I only have 2gb left.

And since the two would sync - it would be filled up quickly.

And the 32gb was just too much money.

So I kept researching.

Then I went into the electronic stores to check them out.

So many different ones - different sizes, different features, different memories and memory capabilities.

And some of them were quite expensive too.

I made my decision - price, size, and memory being the deciding factors.

I have been using it for a couple of days now.

And I couldn't be more pleased!

In my next post I will give you all the details - so stay tuned!

Drops Are Done

I have been reading on a couple of blogs that I drop my Entrecards on each day, that the future of EC is not looking good.

The system has been down on that site for the past  few days - it has never been down this long with problems in the past.

I can only think that it is down for good this time.

There were a group of us there that would visit each other's blogs.

I enjoyed them and what my fellow bloggers had to say.

I would like to find a way to add them to some kind of list that I can visit periodically to keep up with them.

I had cut my drops down about a year ago and kept the blogs that I really enjoyed.

Almost like a second family - I will miss the daily visits, and the traffic source that Entrecard brought to all four of my blogs.

If anyone has any good suggestions for a list or for increasing traffic - please let me know!

Farewell Entrecard - it was good while it lasted!

Updating Self Hosted Blog

I run five different blogs - four of them are on the blogger format.

One of them is a self hosted blog that I run the Wordpress format on.

I set up my blog, Let's Jump Together, with this format over four years ago since I wanted to do some things to it that blogger wouldn't let you do back then.

I have thought of bringing it over to blogger, but I didn't want to break it after all these years of having it run so smoothly.

I received a message from my host that I was too far behind in updating it with the current versions of the software, and I needed to get it done so I didn't compromise the shared hosting that was part of my plan with them.

I had done some updating in the past, so I knew it shouldn't be too hard using the c-panel and software on the host site.

I did my backup just in case though - and it was a good thing I did.

Things were going fine with the little updates, but then I hit a major "fix" that completely broke my site.

I restored my site with the back-up I had made - phew!

But I still needed to get it up to date and now I was back to the beginning again.

So I updated those "little" ones again, and didn't even bother with that big one this time.

I figured almost updated was better than where I was in the beginning.

But I knew it wasn't going to be enough for my host, and I didn't want to compromise the other users on the server.

So, I went into my blog admin on my blog site - as if I was making a post.

And I found a link in there that said it could update to the current version of the software.

I figured - what did I have to loose?

I had a back-up if I needed it again anyway.

I hit the link - and the software updated itself rather than me doing it through a third party software with my host.

And it worked like a charm!

Now I just need to update each add-on to match my current blog software version, and all should be fine.

I will have to remember that for the next time - it was so easy - should have tried it in the beginning!
